We took the bus to Mdina on our visit in 2002. It certainly felt like going back to the time of the Crusades with its medieval feel. We also stayed on the Maltese island of Gozo – not Lexie’s favourite as I don’t think there’s a blade of grass left on the island – but the 5500 year old megalithic temples there show just how long this has been an inhabited part of the Mediterranean.
