We are back in the land of internet signal again ! Currently moored at Thrupp after deciding to gradually wend our way home, via the Oxford Canal, River Thames and Wey.

After yesterday’s text blog I thought I’d just post some pics today. The crossover bridge was used when the towpath switched sides. It’s a smooth curve with lots of grip designed for horses without interrupting the pull of a boat.

Most of the locks are 10’ plus in height, but unlike the River Wey the flow of water is very controlled with little turbulence. Indeed there is no need to rope up when going down, and only a centerline is used going up. Some of the paddle gear and gates are very hard to operate though, H has done an excellent job with either myself or other boaters giving her a hand when required.

The River Cherwell has unusual locks either end. It was very calm, Green Indicator, but can flow can increase rapidly, disrupting traffic for the short time it connects the Oxford Canal

Venturing back into Thrupp one has to negotiate the lift road bridge, luckily there was somebody on hand to do it this time.

Tomorrow we will head back to Oxford, a short day, but there will be lots of fresh hire boats to negotiate……

Hello ,I missed seeing pics. so happy with your last blog with quiet leafy waterways. Those gates look formidable Hazel you will have boxer’muscles with the hard work. The image of the Morse Pub bought back memories of our trip Mark to Oxford. So pleased to hear Coops has got his second..or third wind…a plucky little dog.Little ones, animals or humans can be relied upon to put up a fight…..what are you going to do about it W.etc etc. I ventured into the lounge room downstairs on Friday, coffee in hand and joined a table of Kiora Crafters…..one very skilled at small soft knitted toys for hospitals. Some just sit and chat and all amiably. I am now on the hunt for my needles and cannot find them anywhere. Also having given away my stash of crafty things will have to restock if my hands let me do the odd toy. Looked on internet and have downloaded a pattern UK site comes fromThe book Baby and Toddler. Knits made easy (DK 16.95p) If by any chance you should find yourself in a wool shop Hazel….I know this is extremely unlikely) and browsing could you have a look for what I could cope with in small cute toys etc.. Coming week, sadly Ted’s funeral Tuesday, Michael taking us) and a St.Louis aft.tea for residents with July Birthdays. Vern sent his carer over with a bottle of vintage champers Moët so that has gone into Michael’s cellar to await a time when we are all together. Watching Wimbledon, wet this year, problem staying up late to watch. Keep enjoying your last boating days this year. ❤️🌹🌹🍾🥂
